In the summer of 2025, the IG Arena, Japan’s leading state-of-the-art multipurpose arena, will be built in Meijo Park in Nagoya’s Kita Ward.
This facility will be the successor to the Aichi Prefectural Gymnasium, built in 1964, and will serve as a new entertainment hub for audiences in Japan and abroad.

Various Events and Purposes of Use
The IG Arena is scheduled to host more than 150 events annually and is expected to attract approximately 1.4 million visitors annually.
International music concerts and entertainment events, indoor sports such as basketball and indoor sports such as basketball, as well as being the new venue for the Nagoya Grand Sumo Tournament.

A New Era for the Nagoya Grand Sumo Tournament

The Nagoya Grand Sumo Tournament, previously held at the Aichi Prefectural Gymnasium (Dolphins Arena), will move to the IG Arena from 2025.
The new venue will have approximately 7,800 seats, providing a more comfortable environment for spectators to watch the tournament.
Nagoya Grand Sumo Tournament will be held from July 13 to 27.
Advanced Facilities and Services
The facility will feature 30 sections of food and beverage outlets and wagon stores, providing visitors with a variety of culinary experiences. It is also expected to offer a new spectator experience utilizing communication technology.
